Seems I still have a lot to show you, my friends. I’ve been busy, but not posting, so there’s a bit of a backlog.
Before we get to today’s spin, which started out as 6 ounces of BFL from FatCatKnits in the colorway Let’s Go Crazy (created for the Completely Twisted & Arbitrary SAL on Rav), can I ask you something?
Do you ever find that your knitting (or spinning) hits some kind of bizarre trend of either everything working out perfectly right all of a sudden or everything falling to pieces and you wonder why you’re suddenly completely unskilled for a few days?
I hit the latter over the past few days. Realized I had gauge completely screwed up on one thing and ripped it. Then cast on again and broke my needle and threw it in a corner. Then made multiple pompoms that all were giant Fails, then kept dropping knitting on the floor for no reason other than gravity, and threw yarn against the wall in anger and…you get the picture.
But last night I found my mojo again. I can’t wait to show you what I finished. But it’s not quite ready for a picture yet, so you’re going to have to settle for this:
My plan for this BFL was to spin for socks, and because I had 6 ounces, not 4, I figured I didn’t have to struggle to make it thin-thin-thin. Instead I could go default and end up with something nice and squishy to make my feet (and eyes) happy.
This ends up being about 270 yards of DK weight n-ply. And the whole spin, start to finish, made me want everything on Mixed BFL. The heatheriness of mixed BFL is just…dreamy.
I have another 6 ounces of fiber from this SAL, which looks like this:
Mine is Falkland, and the colorway is called Come Together. I’m thinking n-ply and socks for it too. Or I was until I saw this… Go ahead. Go on over there and browse around. Check out the handspun colorwork projects. My goodnessgosh, have you seen anything more awesome?
Anyway, I’m not gonna get my Falkland done by SAL-deadline, because now I’m feeling indecisive about how to handle it. I hate to be a copycat, but I want to be a copycat, you know?
In the meantime, I’ve got this on the wheel at the moment…
And it is delicious…
Happy Spinning, Friends!
